Green Resources, a renewable energy and forestry company utilizes tool developed by rmsource!

rmsource is the development partner responsible for architecting, developing and supporting an application in accordance with guidelines set by the National Council for Air and Stream Improvement, Inc. (NCASI).  The “Forest Industry Carbon Assessment Tool” or (FICAT™) was built on Microsoft technologies utilizing the .NET platform. Built for the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group, FICAT™ is primarily designed to help characterize the life cycle greenhouse gas impacts of activities associated with producing forest products. Green Resources, a forest-based company operating in East Africa, where they are involved in afforestation activities and production of wood products and renewable energy, recently utilized the tool to calculate the company’s carbon footprints for 2008 and 2009.  The tool helped identify potential liabilities and opportunities, to inform internal and external discussions on environmental sustainability, and to be an active participant in efforts to develop carbon footprint methodology.  More information about the tool is available at www.ficatmodel.org.
